This ritual puts the recipient through the massage in a deep state of mental and physical relaxation.

Lomi Lomi uses plenty of warm oil, which allows the massager to get under the body of the massage guest. A feeling of weightlessness is created. Many guests describe the experience as if the body is carried by a gentle, warm wave. The wave engulfs the entire body from head to toe, enticing you to let your body and mind wander.

There are many different forms of Lomi Lomi. I practice the “Temple-Style” massage according to Kahu Abraham.

Please note that Lomi Lomi massage can be very intense and involves a lot of physical contact. For clients who are not used to this, it can be perceived to be too intimate. For this reason, I recommend clients to book the Esalen massage prior to booking a Lomi Lomi with me. Due to the intense physicality and the much needed sense of trust in this massage form, I only offer the Lomi-Lomi to my male clientele. In general I recommend to everyone interested in this form of massage to experience it with a therapist of your own sex.
